🎙️ Chandan Mishra on Getting Big Guests

Chandan has interviewed major Indian creators. Many were already Smart Infovision clients, but he explained how he’d approach anyone. Big guests always ask what you’ll ask them, and if it’s the same questions they’ve already answered, they’ll say no. 🙅

His rule is to start a podcast with a clear purpose, find a different angle and ask connected questions. Pick up from the guest’s last answer instead of reading a GPT-generated script. Guests watch your earlier episodes to judge whether you’re credible.

Even today, guests need a good host. And if they find a good host, numbers don’t matter.

Chandan Mishra (translated from Hindi)

He described Raj Shamani’s team researching a guest for 10 days so they don’t repeat questions. Podcasting is a business, and the big players treat it that way. 📋

👩‍🏫 Why Teachers Are Creators, and Need Products

After COVID, teachers moved from pen tablets and Zoom to fully equipped studios. Smart Infovision guides them on budget setups for YouTube, podcasts and recorded lectures, plus growth paths, hooks and course sales. It has 16 experience centres. 🎥

His warning to educator-YouTubers: don’t depend only on AdSense or affiliate links. One rule change and your links could be gone. Build your own product while things are going well. 🛠️

He also argued that creators with huge but non-credible audiences, like viral comedy accounts, struggle to land brands. Brands check your audience and your authority. 🏅

We discussed a market gap too: there’s no single platform where creators can enter their niche and audience size and get matched with the right affiliate programs. For more on affiliate networks, read Parul Bhargava’s vCommission story. 🤝

🔍 YouTube as a Marketing Engine

One of Smart Infovision’s channels has around 80K subscribers, and Chandan says it drives about ₹3 crore in sales a month. 💰 The secret is searchable, keyword-based content. Search “how to set up a studio” or “digital board” and you’ll find his videos.

Recommendation traffic, he said, is less stable. It depends on a loyal audience and strong content psychology, which is why big channels pay strategists. Search-based videos keep selling. 📺

🤝 The Two-Minute Networking Approach

His favourite networking story: at a Classplus event, he got a two-minute window with a creator he admired. Instead of asking for a selfie, he asked about the black thread the creator always wears, and whether there was meaning behind it. 🧵

Because the question was genuine and not self-serving, they connected. When the creator heard Chandan builds studios for teacher-creators, he shared his number, called the next day and invited him over. They recorded a podcast that same day. 📞

His other tip: have a 30-second elevator pitch ready. And don’t rely on paid PR to book big people, because they won’t speak from the heart. For more on relationship-building, read Avijit Singh Arya on building relationships. 🧠

🤖 Chandan Mishra’s AI Roadmap

Chandan studies AI for two hours a day and feeds ideas to his team. His view is that AI agents will take over pre-sales, lead profiling and churn follow-ups.

Smart Infovision is building agents that score team performance, check whether calls follow the script and do the work of QA auditors and team leads. 📞 He described an AI dialer-auditor that shows a dashboard of dials, connections, call quality and script misses, so a founder only listens to the weak calls.

He calls this the maker-checker model: AI makes, and AI also checks the work against SOPs, KRAs and KPIs. His bigger idea is to train AI with your own psychology to create “founder-level AI”, since you’ll never hire someone who thinks exactly like you. 🧠

His podcast studio booking already runs on a CRM with automatic messages and delivery of video files over WhatsApp, so one person can manage the whole process. Two warnings: many Indians think AI should be free, and entry-level editors, designers and programmers must upskill or get left behind. For more on this, read Siddharth Ajmera on AI and jobs. ⚠️

⚙️ GOT vs OT: The Founder’s Formula

Chandan’s framework for founders:

  • 🚀 GOT (Growth-Oriented Tasks): networking, new opportunities, travel and learning
  • 🔧 OT (Operation-Oriented Tasks): constantly checking whether this or that got done

If a founder gets stuck in OT, the company stops growing. Founders should block their mornings for learning. Even without AI, a business owner who doesn’t study for an hour a day will become outdated. 📚 He added that endless reel scrolling fills your mind with “junk” instead of skills.

He also shared his biggest lesson: a founder must treat the company as its own entity and follow its rules. For years he ran it his own way, and that cost the company. 🏢

📊 IPO Plans and the ₹1000 Crore Vision

The vision is to build something like Croma or Vijay Sales for creators, coaches and YouTubers: experience stores in malls with podcast, training, YouTube and gaming studios where you can try equipment before ordering a setup. 🏬 Smart Infovision has 16 branches and wants to open 27 more.

His IPO checklist starts with the market size of the idea and the credibility of the founder and business. He says about 70% of the company’s traffic is organic Google search, ranking for around 100,000 keywords with eight blogs published daily. 📈

His financial benchmarks: low fixed costs, at least six months of runway, and ideally a 15% PAT. This year is about streamlining and automating, next year about profit, then a pre-IPO round before going public. His FIRE number is ₹1000 crore, which he hopes to reach in two to three years. He grew up in a village where his only dream was a second-hand bike. 🏍️

💔 Fame, Health and Living Without Regret

Chandan’s advice on fame: don’t chase it. Famous people can’t eat golgappas in the market or have a quiet dinner with family, and he says that loss of a normal life can become poison. 👨‍👩‍👧

  • 🚲 Favourite childhood memory: his first bicycle. He even dreamt about it
  • 👨 One person to bring back: his father, his “best coach”
  • 🏆 Last wish: to be “the only one”, not number one
  • 📚 Best investment: learning. He’s spent around ₹1 crore on events and sponsorships
  • 📱 Favourite contact: his wife, who is also his business partner and mentor
  • 🇮🇳 PM for a day: tell Indians to check whether their education is outdated and keep upskilling
  • 💪 Best advice: health is everything. Without it, your wealth is zero

His closing mantra: live every day so that if something happens tomorrow, you have zero regrets. He’s even preparing a will and a folder of important access details for his brother. 🙏
