What happens when a guy who started out selling concert tickets spends 20 years in SEO and then decides search conferences deserve a real stage? That’s the Nikolas Monti SEO story, and it’s packed with lessons on AI automation, parasite SEO, iGaming, and the human cost of running your own business.
In the latest episode of Inside A Hustler’s Brain, I sat down with Nikolas Monti, SEO veteran and founder of SEO On Stage, who splits his time between the Czech Republic and Dubai. We went from his corporate days at Vodafone and Fortuna to AI search, Google data mysteries, and the advice he’d give his younger self.
How I Brief Listeners After the Nikolas Monti Episode
Inside A Hustler’s Brain episodes work harder when the blog post carries the operator notes that do not fit in a live conversation. Nikolas Monti talked through parasite SEO case studies, knowledge panels, agency processes abroad. This expansion adds how I apply those themes across BloggersIdeas, DigiExe, AffiliateBooster, and SchemaNinja without inventing quotes that were not said on air.
If you watched the episode, use this page as the checklist. If you only read, watch the full podcast for tone and stories. I keep FAQs tied to what was actually discussed.
DigiExe Takeaways I Wrote Down After Recording
Agency work punishes vague process. After conversations like the one with Nikolas Monti, I write three lines into DigiExe notes: what to copy, what to ignore for India clients, and what to test for one sprint. SEO and AI automation themes around parasite SEO case studies, knowledge panels, agency processes abroad map cleanly to that template.
Copy means a habit a freelancer can run without me. Ignore means a tactic that needs a market or budget DigiExe clients do not have. Test means a two-week experiment with a clear kill criteria. That is how podcast ideas become retainers instead of Slack nostalgia.
BloggersIdeas Editorial Angles From This Interview
Roundups and how-tos on BloggersIdeas need examples that feel lived-in. Nikolas Monti’s lane (parasite SEO case studies, knowledge panels, agency processes abroad) gives editors prompts for future articles: process over talent, honest timelines, and tools that survive junior staff. I do not paste the episode transcript into a listicle. I pull themes, then assign a writer to verify current product pages before publish.
Affiliate disclosures stay separate from interview praise. If a tool is mentioned on air and later in an affiliate article, the article still needs dated pricing screenshots.
AffiliateBooster and SchemaNinja Notes
AffiliateBooster campaigns care about clear offers and honest claims. Interview energy is not a claim. SchemaNinja marketing cares about clarity for developers and marketers who skim. When Nikolas Monti hits themes around parasite SEO case studies, knowledge panels, agency processes abroad, I ask whether any of that belongs in onboarding docs or partner emails. Usually the answer is a shorter SOP, not a new subscription.

Who Is Nikolas Monti?
Nikolas Monti (Nikolas Monti-Potsolakis) has spent close to two decades in SEO. He worked in-house across very different industries, from telecom (Vodafone) to education to iGaming operators, and over the last 10 to 12 years moved deeper into iGaming and adult, two of the toughest SEO verticals out there.
Today he runs his own agency, travels constantly with his wife and two kids, and is the founder of SEO On Stage, a search and marketing conference he describes as something between a TED Talk and a concert.
Fun fact: Nikolas and I share a mutual friend. He met Alan Cladx, the guy who runs 500,000+ websites, in Chiang Mai.
How Did Nikolas Monti Go From Ticket Cashier at 15 to 20 Years in SEO?
Nikolas started at 15 as a cashier at music events, and he says selling tickets taught him two marketing rules he still uses:
- Deliver what you sell. If people buy tickets for the Rolling Stones, they expect the Rolling Stones, not another band
- Package the benefit honestly. A VIP ticket that puts people in the middle of nowhere isn’t VIP, and customers will figure that out
His first real job was at an events company called On Stage. Because it was small, he was the only one curious enough to start playing with SEO around 20 years ago. He saw there was money to be made early, and went in-house from there.
What Is SEO On Stage? Why Nikolas Monti Built It
What is SEO On Stage?
SEO On Stage is a search and marketing conference founded by Nikolas Monti. He describes it as something between a TED Talk and a concert, with panels on iGaming, SaaS, e-commerce and adult, plus speakers from other fields.
After roughly 10 years around live events and 20 in search, Nikolas felt it was time to give back to the community, but not with another hotel ballroom conference.
“Consider it as something between a TED Talk and a concert. I want people to have fun, not to be bored in a conference in a hotel somewhere.” – Nikolas Monti
The format mixes panels on iGaming, SaaS, e-commerce and adult, and deliberately brings in people from other fields (go-to-market, data, SEO) to see how their thinking combines. The first edition was planned for Athens in October 2026, followed by Dubai (23 to 25 March 2027) and Prague in June 2027.
If you like the business side of events, my conversation with Eman Pulis on building the SiGMA brand is a great companion listen.
What Corporate SEO Lessons Did Nikolas Monti Learn at Vodafone and Fortuna?
At Vodafone, Nikolas handled global SEO across the European markets plus partner markets such as Qatar. Does SEO fit agile squads? His answer: both.
It should fit, but friction starts when you meet people who don’t have SEO as a priority and a developer is used to doing only UX work. If teams ignore SEO, he says, they will eventually see it in the results and have to come back to it.
At Fortuna, where his team handled SEO across markets like the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Romania, the single biggest move was coordination. Developers, product managers, content and link building people were working in silos. The second move was hiring the right content writers, link builders and affiliates, because the company simply didn’t have those connections.
Corporate vs Agency Life: How Does Nikolas Monti Manage 400 Websites Without Cannibalization?
What is keyword cannibalization in this story?
It is the problem that appears when several brands under one company sell similar products in the same market and compete with each other. Nikolas Monti’s fix was differentiation by target customer.
Why leave corporate? “I was tired of working for someone else.” Corporate taught him how to manage people and expectations, especially a local CEO who only cares about revenue numbers. Running his own agency is faster, the responsibility is all his, and he works more hours, but it gives him the freedom to travel with his family.
One of his toughest projects was managing around 400 websites for one cosmetics company, with several brands selling similar products in the same market. The fix was differentiation by target customer: one brand positioned high-end, another for everyday buyers, with content and messaging structured to match.
“You need the Ferrari, but you need the Fiat as well, which is under the same family.” -Nikolas Monti
Nikolas Monti on SEO in 2026: AI, GEO and the Death of the Main Domain
What is the death of the main domain?
It is Nikolas Monti’s keynote idea that brands should stop treating one website as their only asset. He recommends building presence on social media, Reddit, podcasts and LinkedIn, because search now happens in many places, from TikTok to Reddit.
AEO, GEO, AI SEO: Nikolas jokes that it has so many names it’s “the new sexy.” His concern is that many companies, especially in iGaming, never had a proper SEO setup and now want to jump straight into AI.
Brands also need to watch external factors like regulation. He mentioned a new client targeting Brazil right as a big ban was landing there, and we talked about iGaming being banned in India too.
That’s why his keynote was about the death of the main domain: stop treating one website as your only asset. Build presence on social media, Reddit, podcasts and LinkedIn, because SEO is turning into search optimization wherever search happens, from TikTok to Reddit.
Which AI Models Lean on Which Platforms?
He also pointed out the bias in AI models: ChatGPT leans heavily on Reddit, while Grok leans on X (Twitter) data, since they share an owner. Knowing which platforms feed which model matters.
How Big Is the AI Visibility Gap?
His estimate: around 78% of companies aren’t getting AI visibility right yet. Some traditional brands still don’t show up in LLM answers at all. And because most LLM training data is English, Greek or Czech brands may need more time, though he expects models to catch up on other languages within about 6 months to a year. For more on multilingual search, read Kira Khoroshilova’s international SEO playbook.
What Is Nikolas Monti’s Daily AI Stack? Claude, Grok and MCPs
Nikolas’s go-to AI tools right now:
- Claude as his number one
- Grok as a close second
- Netlify to host many of the sites and projects his team runs
- MCPs connected to Ahrefs and Semrush so keyword research and data live in one place
I shared that I’ve been using Grok Bot for email outreach automation and content work on some of my sites. His view matches mine: keep testing, and connect everything you can so the data lives in one place. For an agency founder who scaled hard with AI SEO, check how Lawrence Hitches grew Studio Hawk.
Why Don’t Search Console and Google Analytics Traffic Match?
What is the mismatch?
It is the gap where Google Search Console shows almost no clicks while Google Analytics shows tens of thousands of organic visits. Nikolas Monti listed four possible reasons, starting with tracking problems.
I asked Nikolas about something I keep seeing on my affiliate sites: Google Search Console is flat (one or two clicks a month) while Google Analytics shows tens of thousands of organic visits from Bing, DuckDuckGo, Yandex, ChatGPT referrals and Google.
His possible explanations:
- A tracking problem in your analytics setup (always check this first)
- Most of the traffic isn’t coming from Google search at all
- Clicks from AI Overviews can show up as organic in Analytics without being counted the traditional way in Search Console
- Attribution issues, for example a returning visitor getting counted as direct
What Are Parasite SEO Case Studies From iGaming? Spotify AI Podcasts, Trustpilot & IMDb
What is parasite SEO?
In Nikolas Monti’s examples, it means placing content on high-authority third-party platforms, such as Spotify, Trustpilot or IMDb, so it can rank faster than a new standalone site. He also separates “official” parasites tolerated by Google from small sites that get banned for the same thing.
In France, his team ran a Spotify podcast built with AI: AI-generated casino reviews narrated in a generated voice, with each episode mapped like a page on a website (best bonuses, best payouts, and so on). Links can’t go in at first, so they sat in the description until the show got traction. Because Spotify has high authority, it works like parasite SEO.
He was candid that shortcuts with Trustpilot in Germany backfired: early inauthentic reviews got a lot of their assets banned, so they moved to reviewers who have real profiles and review history. The lesson: platforms police patterns that look unnatural.
He has even seen an IMDb article ranking for “best casinos” in Germany, probably piggybacking on a casino featured in a movie like Casino Royale. And he separates “official” parasites, like big newspapers with casino review sections that Google tolerates, from small sites that get banned for the same thing. For the full parasite SEO debate, read Charles Floate on parasite SEO and Google updates.
How to Get a Google Knowledge Panel
I told Nikolas my own knowledge panel showed up for my name, I claimed and verified it, and then it disappeared. He said he has seen panels appear without even trying, after an interview, a podcast or a conference panel led to an article that Google picked up.
What helps is consistent mentions across sources: LinkedIn, a YouTube channel, a Google Maps listing for your company and, if you qualify, Wikipedia with a real, verifiable biography. (He also has an IMDb page from acting in a movie as a kid.)
👥 Processes Over Talent: Scaling an Agency Abroad
The hardest process to learn was finding the right people, because everyone looks great on paper until you see how they work. After that comes alignment:
- SOPs and documentation, down to how files are named and where reports live
- A shared way of reporting before every client meeting
- A clear rule for client communication: never just drop a problem on the client
“You show that you have a solution, not that you give them a problem to fix.” – Nikolas Monti
His hardest honest conversation came after a developer’s mistake caused an indexing problem on an important commercial page and the client lost money. His team caught it, explained what happened, fixed it, and worked to make sure it couldn’t happen again. Future-proofing, he says, is how you keep the client’s trust.
Fireside Round With Nikolas Monti: Advice, Money, Regrets & Tears
- Best advice: find a mentor when you start out, then still make your own mistakes
- Worst advice: caring too much about what people think of you
- Worst year: 2023, for personal reasons. Best: meeting his wife, or having their kids
- Biggest week: roughly €50,000 to €100,000 in deals after closing about 10 clients at a conference. His best year, he thinks, was around a million
- One day with: Elon Musk, purely out of curiosity about how he operates
- Last time he cried: about two weeks before we recorded. “Everyone cries. If they say they don’t, they’re lying.”
The Dark Side of Entrepreneurship: Sleep, Stress & Family
What did he give up? “My sleep.” And free time. To make it work, he often stays two extra days after a conference so his family can join and turn it into a short holiday.
How he handles stress:
- Take care of your body: physiotherapy, sleep, whatever your health needs
- Do something that fully takes your mind off work. For him it’s movies and driving
- Surround yourself with the right people. A supportive spouse and kids make the travel possible
When it gets too much, he keeps a concrete goal in mind, whether that’s a villa in the Maldives or a house in the countryside with chickens, and keeps going. Parul Bhargava opened up about the same struggle in her episode on the dark side of entrepreneurship.
Nikolas Monti’s Advice on AI, SEO & Affiliate Marketing
On AI: don’t panic. It’s not here to take your job. Embrace it, learn it, and make it your ally. Some jobs will disappear, but new ones appear, like prompt engineer, which nobody expected a few years ago.
For beginners in affiliate marketing and SEO:
- Remember the death of the main domain: build multiple assets, not one website
- Avoid ultra-competitive markets like Germany unless you have serious money
- Start with a smaller, less competitive market or niche and take baby steps

FAQs About Nikolas Monti
Nikolas Monti (Nikolas Monti-Potsolakis) is an SEO specialist with about 20 years of experience, including in-house roles at companies like Vodafone and iGaming operators such as Fortuna. He runs his own agency and founded the SEO On Stage conference.
SEO On Stage is a search and marketing conference founded by Nikolas Monti. He describes it as something between a TED Talk and a concert, with editions in Athens, Dubai and Prague.
Brands shouldn't rely on a single website. He recommends building presence on social media, Reddit, podcasts and LinkedIn, because search now happens across many platforms and AI tools pull information from them.
He named Claude as his number one and Grok as second, plus Netlify for hosting and MCP connections to Ahrefs and Semrush for keyword research and data.
According to Nikolas, it can be a tracking problem, traffic that isn't from Google search, AI Overview clicks showing as organic in Analytics, or attribution issues.
