As of 2026, Fortnite has more than 75 million monthly active users, according to Epic Games in June 2026. Right now, about 2.35 million people are online in Fortnite and 1.42 million are in a match, based on a third-party tracker snapshot on October 12, 2026. The all-time peak is 14.3 million concurrent players, set on November 30, 2024.
Last updated: October 12, 2026. Next update: after the Chapter 7 Season 4 finale, expected in early November 2026.

Key Fortnite Statistics (Editor’s Pick)
- 75 million+ monthly active users [Epic Games, Unreal Fest keynote, June 17, 2026].

- 14.3 million concurrent players at Remix: The Finale on November 30, 2024, the all-time high [Epic Games; fortnite.gg].
- 44.7 million players in a single day on November 4, 2023, Fortnite’s biggest day ever [Epic Games].
- 350 million registered players as of May 2020, the last official total [Epic Games].

How Many People Are Playing Fortnite Right Now?
At 3:21 AM IST on October 12, 2026 (evening of October 11 in the US), the fortnite.gg tracker showed:
| Metric | Players |
|---|---|
| Online now (signed in) | 2,350,979 |
| In a match now | 1,422,935 |
| 24-hour in-match peak | 1,944,568 |
| All-time peak (Nov 30, 2024) | 14,343,880 |
Source: fortnite.gg live player count, a third-party tracker not affiliated with Epic Games, checked October 12, 2026.
Players right now by game mode
Fortnite is no longer one game. It is a platform of thousands of “islands”. Here is where people were playing at the same moment:
| Mode or island | Players now | All-time peak |
|---|---|---|
| Battle Royale | 522,297 | 9,581,154 |
| Reload | 185,466 | 1,062,338 |
| Fortnite OG | 61,319 | 1,649,148 |
| Horde Rush | 38,365 | 372,566 |
| Pillars | 23,370 | 44,613 |
| Blitz Royale | 21,802 | 531,457 |
| Star Wars Droid Tycoon | 18,512 | 124,592 |
| 1v1 With Every Gun | 17,345 | 117,480 |
| Steal the Brainrot | 17,015 | 1,087,974 |
| LEGO Fortnite Odyssey | 16,056 | 2,447,763 |
Source: fortnite.gg, October 12, 2026 snapshot.
Only about 37% of in-match players were in classic Battle Royale at that moment. The rest were in Reload, OG, LEGO, and creator-made games. That matches what Epic itself reports about creator islands taking a bigger share of playtime.
Why Live Fortnite Player Counts Vary So Much
If you check three sites, you will see three different “players right now” numbers. That is normal. Here is why:
- Epic does not publish a live total. Every live count comes from third-party trackers that add up the player counts Epic shows for each island.
- “Online” vs “in a match”. “Online” includes people in the lobby, the Item Shop or editing in Creative. “In a match” only counts people actually playing. The gap is often close to a million players.
- Time of day and day of week. Counts swing by more than a million players between weekday mornings and weekend evenings (in US and Europe time zones).
- Live events cause huge spikes. A one-off season finale can triple the daily peak for a few hours.
- Private and unlisted islands. Trackers can miss players in private matches or islands they do not index.
- Accounts, not people. Some players run more than one account or device.
My advice: if you need one number, use the “in a match” 24-hour peak. It is the closest thing to a fair daily measure. For anything official, use Epic’s own monthly figure.
How Many People Play Fortnite Every Month?
Epic rarely shares this. The latest official number came on June 17, 2026, when Epic’s Director of Fortnite Developer Relations, Hannah Lowry, told the Unreal Fest audience that creators’ work reaches more than 75 million monthly active users.
| Date | Monthly active users | Source type |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 (full year) | 66.6 million | Epic financial exhibit in Epic v. Apple |
| 2019 (full year) | 65.1 million | Epic financial exhibit in Epic v. Apple |
| June 2026 | 75 million+ | Epic Games, Unreal Fest keynote |
Sources: Epic v. Apple trial exhibits (May 2021); Epic Games via PocketGamer.biz (June 2026).
You will see figures like “110 million” or “250 million” monthly players online. I could not trace any of them to an Epic statement, filing or court record, so I have left them out.
How many people play Fortnite every day?
Epic does not report daily active users. The best proxy is the tracker’s average daily peak, which shows how many people are playing at the busiest moment of a typical day.
| Year | Highest daily peak | Average daily peak |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 (from April) | 11.6 million | 2.3 million |
| 2024 | 14.3 million | 2.6 million |
| 2025 | 9.7 million | 1.8 million |
| 2026 (to Oct 10) | 4.8 million | 1.6 million |
Source: fortnite.gg daily peak history, third-party estimates, checked October 12, 2026.

The trend is clear. 2024 was the peak year, driven by Chapter 2 Remix and the OG seasons. 2025 and 2026 are lower, which lines up with what Epic’s CEO said about engagement (more on that below).
Fortnite’s Biggest Player Peaks and Live Events
Live events are where Fortnite sets its records. Here are the biggest ones on record.
| Date | Event | Players | Who reported it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Feb 2, 2019 | Marshmello concert | 10.7 million concurrent | Epic Games |
| Apr 23, 2020 | Travis Scott “Astronomical” (first show) | 12.3 million concurrent | Epic Games |
| Apr 23 to 25, 2020 | Astronomical (all five shows) | 27.7 million unique players | Epic Games |
| Nov 4, 2023 | Fortnite OG launch weekend | 44.7 million players in one day | Epic Games |
| Dec 2, 2023 | The Big Bang (Chapter 5 launch) | 11.6 million concurrent | fortnite.gg |
| Nov 30, 2024 | Remix: The Finale | 14.3 million concurrent (all-time high) | Epic Games; fortnite.gg |
| Nov 29, 2025 | Zero Hour (Chapter 6 finale) | About 10.5 million in-game | IGN and GameSpot reports |

Two common mistakes to avoid:
- 44.7 million is a daily figure, not a concurrent one. It counts everyone who played at any point on November 4, 2023.
- Epic called the 14 million peak “a new Fortnite all-time record for an in-game concert”. The exact 14,343,880 figure comes from the fortnite.gg tracker. Epic said “more than 14 million”.
For Zero Hour, news outlets reported about 10.5 million players, while fortnite.gg’s daily history shows a 9.7 million peak. The gap is a good example of why counts vary: different snapshots, and “online” versus “in a match”.
Fortnite peak players by month
| Month | Peak concurrent players | Month | Peak concurrent players |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nov 2024 | 14.3 million | Nov 2025 | 9.7 million |
| Dec 2024 | 4.8 million | Dec 2025 | 2.7 million |
| Jan 2025 | 3.8 million | Jan 2026 | 2.6 million |
| Feb 2025 | 4.1 million | Feb 2026 | 2.4 million |
| Mar 2025 | 2.8 million | Mar 2026 | 2.8 million |
| Apr 2025 | 2.1 million | Apr 2026 | 2.2 million |
| May 2025 | 2.4 million | May 2026 | 1.9 million |
| Jun 2025 | 5.9 million | Jun 2026 | 4.8 million |
| Jul 2025 | 2.4 million | Jul 2026 | 2.3 million |
| Aug 2025 | 4.0 million | Aug 2026 | 4.6 million |
| Sep 2025 | 3.4 million | Sep 2026 | 2.0 million |
| Oct 2025 | 2.5 million | Oct 2026 (to Oct 10) | 2.3 million |
Source: fortnite.gg daily peak history (third-party), checked October 12, 2026.
The pattern repeats every year. Peaks jump at season launches and live events (June, August and November), then settle back to a 2 to 3 million range.
How Many Registered Players Does Fortnite Have?
Epic’s last official count was 350 million registered players on May 6, 2020. It has not published a newer Fortnite total since.
| Date | Registered players | Source |
|---|---|---|
| June 2018 | 125 million | Epic Games |
| November 2018 | 200 million | Epic Games |
| March 2019 | 250 million | Epic Games (GDC) |
| May 2020 | 350 million | Epic Games |
| February 2022 | 500 million Epic accounts (all Epic games, not just Fortnite) | Epic Games |

Be careful with the 500 million figure. It covers all Epic accounts, including Rocket League, Fall Guys and the Epic Games Store. It is often misreported as a Fortnite number. The “650 million players” claim you see online also does not come from an Epic disclosure.
How Much Money Does Fortnite Make?
Epic is a private company. It does not publish Fortnite revenue. The only hard numbers came out in court during Epic v. Apple in May 2021, from an internal Epic financial presentation.
| Year | Fortnite revenue | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | $5.48 billion | Epic v. Apple trial exhibit |
| 2019 | $3.71 billion | Epic v. Apple trial exhibit |
| 2018 and 2019 combined | About $9.2 billion | Epic v. Apple trial exhibit |
| 2020 onward | Not disclosed | n/a |
Any “lifetime revenue” total you see, whether $20 billion or $40 billion, is an estimate. Nobody outside Epic has published an audited number.

How Much Do Fortnite Creators Earn?
This is the most interesting part of Fortnite’s story, and the one most stats pages skip. Since 2023, Epic has shared Fortnite revenue with creators who build islands.
| Creator stat | Value | Period |
|---|---|---|
| Total paid to creators since UEFN launch | $1 billion+ | March 2023 to June 2026 |
| Paid to creators | $352 million (up 11%) | 2024 |
| Creators paid | 70,000 (up from 24,000) | 2024 |
| Islands published | 198,000 (137,000 built in UEFN) | 2024 |
| Hours in creator islands | 5.23 billion | 2024 |
| Creators earning $1 million+ | 58 | 2024 |
| Creators earning $10 million+ | 7 | 2024 |
| Share of playtime in creator islands | 47% (vs 38% a year earlier) | May 2026 |
| Islands earning more from in-island sales than engagement payouts | 3,000+ | June 2026 |
Sources: Epic Games, Fortnite Ecosystem 2024 Year in Review (January 22, 2025); Epic Games at Unreal Fest 2026 (June 17, 2026).

How Fortnite engagement payouts work
Epic puts 40% of eligible net revenue from the Item Shop and related real-money purchases into a monthly pool. That pool is split between Epic’s own islands and creator islands, based on engagement: playtime, retention and how many new or returning players an island brings in. Creators can now also sell items inside their own islands, and Epic says more than 3,000 islands already earn more from those in-island sales than from engagement payouts.

My take, as someone who interviews creators every week on my podcast: this is the real Fortnite growth story. Battle Royale is flat or down, but nearly half of all playtime now happens in games made by creators. It looks a lot like the Roblox model. And just like Roblox, the money is concentrated at the top: 58 creators made over $1 million in 2024, while most of the 70,000 earned much less. Gaming creators can still build big personal brands; look at what pro players achieved in my breakdowns of Bugha’s net worth and Myth’s net worth.

Fortnite is still the most played game on US consoles. But each player is spending less time in it than a year or two ago. That is the honest picture.
Fortnite Players by Platform and Region
Epic does not publish a platform or country split. What we do know:
- Platforms: Fortnite runs on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, iOS and Android, plus cloud gaming.
- iPhone: Fortnite was removed from the App Store on August 13, 2020, and returned to the US App Store on May 20, 2025, after an April 2025 US court ruling in Epic’s case against Apple.
- Android: The Google Play listing shows 10M+ downloads and a 4.6-star rating from about 520,000 reviews (checked October 12, 2026). Many Android players installed it outside Google Play before its return, so this undercounts real usage.
- India: Mobile battle royales like BGMI lead the market here, and Epic does not share any India player numbers for Fortnite.
If you want to compare how other platforms grow, my apps statistics page covers global download trends.
Is Fortnite Dying in 2026?
No, but it is smaller than at its 2024 peak, and Epic says so itself.
On March 24, 2026, CEO Tim Sweeney told staff that Epic was laying off more than 1,000 people. His words: “The downturn in Fortnite engagement that started in 2025 means we’re spending significantly more than we’re making, and we have to make major cuts to keep the company funded.”
But look at the other side:
- 75 million+ monthly users is still huge. Very few games anywhere reach that.
- More than 1.4 million people were in a match at 3 AM IST on a Monday.
- Big live events still pull 5 to 10 million players at once.
- Creator islands are growing their share of playtime every year.
My view: Fortnite is moving from “one massive game” to “a platform of many games”. That shift hurts headline Battle Royale numbers, but it is the same path Roblox took. The risk is cost, not players. Epic is spending heavily on servers, legal fights and creator payouts, and it raised V-Bucks prices to cover that.

What Fortnite’s Numbers Mean for Creators and Marketers
- Brands still get massive reach. One live event can put 10 million+ people in the same virtual place. Very few TV broadcasts match that for Gen Z. My Gen Z statistics page shows why this audience is so hard to reach elsewhere.
- The creator economy is the growth engine. With 47% of playtime in creator islands and $1 billion paid out, building or sponsoring islands is now a real channel.
- Spend per player is under pressure. Higher V-Bucks prices and layoffs tell you Epic is focused on margin. Expect more brand collabs (Star Wars, Disney, music artists) because they pay.
- Streaming still matters. Over 3 million people watched Remix: The Finale online on top of 14 million in-game. Fortnite content remains a strong category on YouTube and Twitch, which ties into the trends in my video marketing statistics.
FAQs About Fortnite Statistics
How many people are playing Fortnite right now?
At 3:21 AM IST on October 12, 2026, about 2.35 million people were online in Fortnite and 1.42 million were in a match, according to the fortnite.gg tracker. Epic does not publish a live player count, so all live numbers are third-party estimates.
How many people play Fortnite every month?
Epic said in June 2026 that Fortnite has more than 75 million monthly active users. Before that, the last Epic-linked monthly figure was 65.1 million for 2019, from court documents in Epic v. Apple.
What is Fortnite’s highest player count ever?
The record is about 14.3 million concurrent players during Remix: The Finale on November 30, 2024. Epic said “more than 14 million”. Separately, 44.7 million people played on November 4, 2023, Fortnite’s biggest single day.
How many registered players does Fortnite have?
Epic’s last official figure was 350 million registered players in May 2020. Epic has not published a newer Fortnite-only total. The 500 million figure from 2022 covers all Epic Games accounts, not just Fortnite.
How much money does Fortnite make a year?
Epic does not publish Fortnite revenue. Court documents from Epic v. Apple showed $5.48 billion in 2018 and $3.71 billion in 2019. Any figure for later years is an estimate from analysts, not Epic.
Is Fortnite dying in 2026?
No, but engagement is down from its 2024 peak. Epic’s CEO blamed a “downturn in Fortnite engagement” for 1,000+ layoffs in March 2026. Fortnite still has 75 million+ monthly users and remains the most played game on US PlayStation and Xbox.
How much do Fortnite creators make?
Epic paid creators $352 million in 2024 and more than $1 billion in total since UEFN launched in 2023. In 2024, 58 creators earned over $1 million and 7 earned over $10 million.
Why do Fortnite player counts differ between websites?
Epic does not publish live data, so trackers estimate it by adding up players on each island. Sites differ on “online” versus “in a match”, the time they sample, and which islands they track. Live events also cause short, huge spikes.
Final Take: Fortnite Is Smaller, but It Is Becoming a Platform
Fortnite has 75 million+ monthly players, peaks near 2 million on a normal day, and can still pull over 10 million people into a single live event. But Epic itself admits engagement fell after 2025, and it cut jobs and raised V-Bucks prices in 2026.
The story to watch is creators. Nearly half of all Fortnite playtime now happens in creator-made games, and creators have been paid over $1 billion. I will update this page after the Chapter 7 Season 4 finale and whenever Epic shares new official numbers.
