Kulwant Nagi: From MLM to Blogging, His Success Mantra for Affiliate Marketing 🚀

One keyword with about 600 searches a month. That’s all it took for one of his niche sites to start making steady sales. 🔑

On day two of India Affiliate Summit 2015, I sat down with Kulwant Nagi of BloggingCage to talk about his journey and his affiliate marketing playbook. 🎙️

🔁 From MLM to Blogging

Kulwant started blogging in 2011 by chance. He was in a multi-level marketing company, and others suggested a blog to capture leads. He got so fascinated that he made blogging his focus. 🔁

He followed Jon Morrow, Michael Dunlap and John Chow, and learned that branding builds trust: once people know who you are and your authority, they’ll buy through your link. Early on, he commented on blogs, guest posted and joined forums to bring people to his site. He still follows Matthew Woodward, Neil Patel and Brian Dean of Backlinko. ✍️ Reviews Are a Science: AIDA

“Writing a review is a science.” The universal rule is AIDA: attention, interest, desire, then action, which is the sale. ✍️

Always use the product first. Many bloggers write reviews just for money, but you can’t sell what you don’t understand: “You are a salesman.” Use it, explain every feature, then recommend it. 🔑 Picking Niche Keywords

Learn keyword research first. Aim for at least 500–1,000 monthly searches, though some people make sales from about 200. One of his niche sites targets a keyword with about 600 monthly searches and earns him steadily every month. 🔑

He found it by accident: an article on one of his blogs started making four or five hosting sales a month at about $50 each. Any niche can make money, but build a dedicated site around the product with About, Privacy Policy and Disclaimer pages, plus three to five articles of 1,000–1,200 words. 🕸️ PBNs and Hosting

He used to build his own private blog network, but it’s hard for one person to manage different hosting, IPs and details for every domain. 🕸️

He recommends DigitalOcean for PBNs: cheap, with a new IP each time, but unmanaged, so it suits technical people. He was promoting A Small Orange, which he used for BloggingCage. For competitive keywords with 40,000 searches, he’d write a 2,000+ word pillar article, add 10–15 related articles that interlink to it, and do authentic guest blogging. 🏗️

🔗 Anchor Text and Tools

Never use the same anchor text for every backlink. Vary it naturally: “GoDaddy review”, “GoDaddy review 2015”, “best GoDaddy review”. 🔗

His must-have tools: Long Tail Pro, SEMrush and a rank tracker to watch keywords daily. When he quit his job, he told his family only afterward. They were shocked and stressed, and his first earnings came after 12 to 14 months. His tip: start with a single niche and master it before moving on.
