Who Is Alona Orshynska? Her Journey at MGID
Alona is from Kyiv, Ukraine, born and raised. 🇺🇦 She started in AdTech three years ago, and MGID has been her only company in the industry. MGID’s vice president of product saw potential in her, and today she’s responsible for CPA Tune, one of MGID’s biggest features.
This was only her second conference after Affiliate World Budapest. MGID likes to bring product managers to events because clients want to understand what’s happening behind the scenes. They want proof and reasons to trust the technology.
How Does MGID Decide Which AI Features to Build?
How does MGID choose what to build? Alona says it’s both: matching what competitors and the market demand, and listening closely to clients. Every traffic source has unique supply, so what works elsewhere may not work on MGID.
What Is MGID CTR Guard? How It Stops Creative Burnout
What is CTR Guard?
CTR Guard is an MGID feature that fights ad fatigue. It identifies when a creative is burning out and flags it in the interface and by email, so you know when to switch. It also includes free AI image generation.
MGID’s CTR Guard fights ad fatigue. It identifies when a creative is burning out and flags it in the interface and by email, so you know when to switch. It uses multiple layers of filtering and signals to make those decisions.
It also includes free AI image generation. Alona recommends CTR Guard to everyone because in native, the teaser is what competes in the auction, and when offers look similar, creative is how you stand out. 🎨
“It is about how you use it, and how you use the time you saved with it.” -Alona Orshynska
What Is MGID CPA Tune? AI Bidding Explained by Alona Orshynska
What is CPA Tune?
CPA Tune is MGID’s AI-powered campaign optimisation toolset with automatic bidding built on a conversion prediction model. Instead of a manual CPC, the CPC is dynamic, and the AI handles bidding, finds relevant sources and controls performance.
CPA Tune is the feature Alona owns. It’s MGID’s AI-powered campaign optimisation toolset with automatic bidding built on a conversion prediction model.
With manual bidding, you control the CPC. With CPA Tune, the CPC is dynamic. You give up that control and trust the AI to handle bidding, find relevant sources and control performance. There are two strategies:
- Target CPA: stricter rules for payouts. It protects the budget and tries to hit or beat your target
- Max Conversions: aims for as much volume as possible and uses your full budget, while still considering your target CPA

What Is Mia, MGID’s AI Assistant?
What is Mia? Mia (MGID Intelligent Assistant) is an AI assistant that can access your account data, such as campaigns and creatives, plus MGID’s full knowledge base. It can answer questions, pull reports and suggest optimisations. It is free for everyone.
MGID released Mia (MGID Intelligent Assistant) the day before we recorded. Mia can access your account data (campaigns, creatives and more) plus MGID’s full knowledge base. You can ask anything from “How do I create a campaign?” to pulling reports and getting optimisation suggestions.
Alona and the CTR Guard product manager tried to catch Mia out with tricky questions about their own features during testing, and couldn’t. Like the other tools, it’s free for everyone, and Alona says all three tools complement each other.
How AI Is Reshaping Native Advertising
Alona sees two big trends:
- Better teasers: people are tired of old-fashioned images. With AI, you don’t need to be an artist or designer to create high-quality creatives
- More data: affiliates care about payouts and margins, so anything that improves conversion prediction matters. Platforms increasingly ask advertisers to share data in return for better performance

Will AI Take Ad Jobs? “Not Mine, Specifically”
Alona laughed when I asked if AI will eat jobs: “Not mine, specifically.” But she’s serious about the reason. AI is a tool, like a washing machine. You don’t do laundry by hand anymore.
Her view is that you should delegate the “monkey work” and focus on what only humans do, especially empathy. Product management is about understanding what users want, which generic AI data can’t fully do.
On layoffs, she made two sharp points:
- At MGID, adopting AI means people can move to more fulfilling work, not that “heads are going to fall”. If you fear being laid off, maybe your work needs more value, or you’re in a company that doesn’t know how to reinvest people
- AI is going to get more expensive. She thinks layoffs are partly a trend that will slow once companies see how much AI really costs

How Does Alona Orshynska Find Resilience? Money, Happiness and Life in Ukraine
Her worst times are now. War came to Ukraine in 2014, and Russia launched its full invasion in 2022. “We work. We fight.” Her best year, she says, will be the one that’s coming soon, with victory.
How does she handle stress? The human brain adapts. Resilience grows the more obstacles you face. As Ukrainians, she says, they don’t have another option: they want to live, be happy and help their country. She also credits MGID, a company with Ukrainian origins, for a supportive, non-toxic culture where fear of layoffs isn’t a thing.
Does money buy happiness? Her answer was yes, but not through Chanel or Gucci. Money buys rest, health care, protection and safety, even a car big enough to fit your whole life, pets and family if you need to move.
If she won a jackpot, she’d invest it in Ukrainian victory.
Alona Orshynska’s Advice on AI: Don’t Be Afraid of AI
Her closing advice is something everyone needs to hear:
“The resistance is okay. The fear of missing out is okay. Everyone who uses AI now went through it.” – Alona Orshynska
You don’t have to feel stupid or left behind. Just try it. It’s not rocket science, and it will make your life easier. She compared it to when the internet appeared: we were all scared, and here we are.
