🤝 How We Met
Piyush and I connected on Facebook in 2018. He’d followed me for a while because we share a mentor in Gary Vee. He later helped build my jitendra.co portfolio and handles my podcast so it reaches the right audience. 🤝
He’d been practicing digital marketing for almost three years, starting with three internships under influencers, then freelancing and blogging. He admits an early mistake: spamming blog comments for links. He also hosts a Hindi podcast, The Piyush Kukreja Show, with short, unscripted 30-minute interviews. 🎓 All Talk, No Action
In 2016-17, while studying computer science in Nashik, Piyush told friends he’d be an entrepreneur and hire them. But he was doing zero. He watched Gary Vee and Grant Cardone videos without acting on them. 🎓
“Gary Vee says, don’t watch me, do what I’m doing.” Watching videos won’t help unless you take notes and execute. He also invested his dad’s money in small ventures, and admits you don’t feel the same responsibility when it isn’t your money.
💔 When the Family Business Shut Down
Right after he graduated and planned his startup, his dad’s broadband business was shut down by new government policies, and their license was sealed. The family went through a very hard time. 💔
Instead of crying that he had no money for courses, he took his friend Ashok Kumar’s advice and got a job. He saved, bought small $50-60 courses, and learned the basics: domains, hosting and more. For another comeback story, read Annie Ma’s interview. 🔗
🚀 Building the Business With His Brother
Piyush mainly works with e-commerce clients on social media and website design, along with personal brands like mine. When his brother joined, things took off: his brother finds prospects and leads, and Piyush closes them. “I’m the face, he’s the backbone.” 🚀

🦠 Using the Lockdown Wisely
We recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown. Piyush’s e-commerce work was paused because shipping had stopped. His advice: if you’ve lost a job or client, don’t sit and cry. Treat the time as a break to buy courses, get mentorship and upgrade your skills. 🦠
